B is for Brilliant Baby!

While working on our ABC flashcards today, I was working on A, B, C and D with Caleb. We started on the B card and I said, "B, that's B. B is for barn. B. Barn."

We went through all four letters a couple of times and when I got back to B, I asked him what the letter was.

Guess what my amazingly brilliant child said!? He looked at me and grinned, "Beh!"

Then, of course I got all excited and said, "Yay! Good job for Caleb!" To which he grinned even more and started clapping. I think he may know he's brilliant too! At least he knows WE think he is!

Needless to say, it was only 7:30 in the morning...I feel very accomplished already today! Nothing can stop me and the Brilliant Baby today! Now lets tackle potty training! ;)

Quote of the Day

When told the reason for daylight saving time, the old Indian said, "Only the government would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket, sew it to the bottom, and have a longer blanket."

Flu? Get Some Onions!

What a simple precaution! Could this really work?

After reading this you will think that I have really lost it. However, this is supposedly a true story.

In 1919 when the flu killed 40 million people there was this Doctor that visited the many farmers to see if he could help them combat the flu. Many of the farmers and their family had contracted it and many died.

The Doctor came upon this one farmer and to his surprise, everyone was very healthy. When the Doctor asked what the farmer was doing that was different, the wife replied that she had placed an unpeeled onion in a dish in the rooms of the home (probably only two rooms back then). The doctor couldn't believe it and asked if he could have one of the onions and place it under the microscope. She gave him one and when he did this, he did find the flu virus in the onion. It obviously absorbed the bacteria, therefore, keeping the family healthy.

There is also a story from a hairdresser in AZ. She said that several years ago many of her employees were coming down with the flu and so were many of her customers. The next year she placed several bowls with onions around in her shop. To her surprise, none of her staff got sick. It must work.

The moral of the story is, buy some onions and place them in bowls around your home. If you work at a desk, place one or two in your office or under your desk or even on top somewhere. Try it and see what happens.

If this helps you and your loved ones from getting sick, all the better. If you do get the flu, it just might be a mild case.

Either way, what have you to lose? Just a few bucks on some onions!

Luscious Lemon Fudge

I came across this recipe right before Christmas last year. It was such a hit with my family that I am requested to make it for every holiday, major and minor! I thought I'd share it here! Beware though, once you put one mouthwatering piece in your mouth, willpower flies right out the window! You have been forewarned!

LEMON FUDGE
~ 1-1/2 teaspoons plus 6 tablespoons butter, divided
~ 2 packages (10 to 12 ounces each) vanilla or white chips
~ 2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
~ 2/3 cup marshmallow creme
~ 1-1/2 teaspoons lemon extract

Line a 9-in. square pan with foil. Grease foil with 1-1/2 teaspoons butter; set aside. In a large saucepan, melt remaining butter over low heat. Add chips and milk; cook and stir for 10-12 minutes or until chips are melted.Stir in marshmallow creme and extract; cook and stir 3-4 minutes longer or until smooth. Pour into prepared pan. Chill until set.Using foil, lift fudge out of pan. Discard foil; cut fudge into squares. Store in the refrigerator.

Yield: about 2 pounds.

ENJOY!
